HUNTSVILLE, Alabama, August 14, 2019 – The Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville believes that when we invest in our nonprofit community, that investment can reap huge dividends. This core belief guided us them to create the Digital Inclusion Fund with sponsorship funding from Google Fiber. The fund launched last year to catalyze digital inclusion efforts in the City of Huntsville by making grants totaling $100,000 to high-impact programs encouraging digital literacy and accessibility. Grants were distributed to nine local nonprofit agencies and made internet access and digital education available to residents currently without access to those resources.
This year, the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville is partnering with Google Fiber once again to celebrate the one-year anniversary of these grants, as well as the positive impact that local nonprofit organizations have on our community. In addition to a celebration of the work that nonprofits do in our community, Google Fiber is continuing their commitment with an additional $50,000 gift.
Nonprofits are invited to join in the celebration and learn more about Google Fiber grant funding by attending the celebration on National Nonprofit Day, August 17, 2019 at 12:00pm at Yellowhammer Bierhall. Registration to this free event is available via EventBrite at http://ow.ly/3tAy50vovY1.
