Grant Description

In partnership with Google Fiber, the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville launched the Digital Inclusion Fund in 2018 to support digital inclusion efforts in the City of Huntsville. This grant program provides funding to organizations that are preparing students for technology careers, supporting workforce development, and teaching people to use information and communication technologies to find, evaluate, create, and communicate information.

2022 Grant Recipients

The Digital Inclusion Fund awarded five grants to nonprofits supporting digital inclusion in the City of Huntsville. These grants totaled $45,000.

ID.R.U.M - DIGITALLY RESPONSIBLE UNSTOPPABLE MUSICIANS – PHASE II - $13,310.00

iD.R.U.M is an initiative that is focused on developing digital literacy through music production/education by providing free access to technology training that teaches participants to responsibly navigate, understand, evaluate, and create digital content using a wide range of technology tools.

CONNECT INITIATIVE - DIGITAL INCLUSION FOR THE HOMELESS COMMUNITY - $12,740.00

The Connect Initiative is a three-step approach to bridging the digital divide in the homeless community through increased access and education. Through this grant, First Stop will offer a computer lab and digital literacy classes to the homeless community.

STEAM RESOURCE LAB - $8,000.00

As an after-school program, Huntsville Inner City Learning Center is in a natural position to offer hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) activities to our students that public and private schools may have difficulty finding time to include. This project will expand our existing resources and programs.

ADVANCEMENT THROUGH DIGITAL LEARNING - $5,950.00

Pathfinder’s Advancement Through Digital Learning initiative will provide computer and internet access to residents recovering from a substance use disorder for job searches, career development, online GED and other educational enhancements, and digital literacy.

TECHNICAL THEATRE STE(A)M LEARNING LAB FOR K-12 WORK FORCE DEVELOPMENT - $5,000.00

The new Technical Theatre STE(A)M Learning Lab will provide students with hands-on instruction to master technical theatre subjects including multiple topics, such as color theory and perspectives, sound engineering and design, rigging, and lighting.
