Family Giving: Cynthia and Rey Almodovar

Cynthia began her career in the aerospace and defense industry with Lockheed Martin in 1984. After a successful career with Lockheed Martin, she took the leap into the commercial industry joining Nokia Corporation in 1995. She led the America’s Region Logistics, Transportation Management and the U.S. Custom Compliance Team for 12 years during Nokia’s largest economic expansion in the United States.

Rey and Cynthia moved to Huntsville, Alabama, in 2007 to support the consolidation and expansion of INTUITIVE ® in the Huntsville market.

As INTUITIVE became renowned as a leader in industrial and mechanical systems, electrical engineering, business management, systems analysis, and programmatic support, they also supported a commitment to excellence and a dedication to take care of their employees, their customers, and their community.

In 2012 they founded the RAC Fund at the Huntsville Community Foundation to manage their philanthropic efforts in support of the Huntsville community. This fund serves as a philanthropic vehicle to allow the Almodóvars to make charitable contributions to a fund and then recommend grants to eligible charitable organizations over time.

Cynthia Almodóvar and her husband, Rey, support charitable organizations, local schools, STEM education, and young professionals. Their proudest moments include co-sponsoring key acquisitions for a Huntsville Museum of Art collection, the establishment of the Legacy Wall at the Huntsville Botanical Garden, the Cerro Tranquilo Home for Boys at Kids To Love, the Arbor at the Alabama Constitution Village, the delivery of the Red Cross ERV to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria’s devastation, and the Intuitive Planetarium at the Space and Rocket Center.

Rey and Cynthia have received the American Heart Association “Heart of the Community” Award, American Red Cross Philanthropy Award, the Huntsville Hospital Foundation Philanthropy Award, and the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Service Award in recognition of their commitment to the community and their spirit of giving.

Cynthia shares, “I count myself blessed to be able to give back to the community that has done so much for me and for my family.”
