This week marks a new chapter for the Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County as it transitions to a different name and new brand to better reflect its expanded reach to serve the Greater Huntsville area.
The eight-year-old foundation is now known as the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville, which CEO/President Stuart Obermann believes will position the organization for continued growth and expansion as our community’s hub for philanthropic services and nonprofit support.
Leadership of the Community Foundation announced the rebranding and new strategic plan for the foundation at a Donor/Board Appreciation Reception on April 24, 2017 at the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County. The event was attended by about 50 fundholders, board members, board alumni, and staff of the foundation.
Stuart Obermann, CEO/President of the Community Foundation, said: “For eight years the Community Foundation has offered the Huntsville/Madison County community services for individuals, families and corporations to give back to the community in a convenient and cost-effective way. Since our founding in 2009, over $22 million in charitable donations has been raised, and almost $9 million has been granted out to hundreds of nonprofit agencies in our community and beyond. Our new name, Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville, is more inclusive of the growing community we serve, and positions us for future expansion in our region as the Greater Huntsville community continues to thrive and expand. While the majority of our existing donors live in Huntsville and Madison, an increasing number of new fundholders live in the counties surrounding Madison County.”
“Our tagline, A Smart Place to Give, echoes the A Smart Place to Live campaign regularly used by our business and community leaders in recruiting new businesses to the area,” stated Joe Alexander, Board Chairman of the Community Foundation. This tagline emphasizes the flexible, transparent and tax-efficient funds and services the Community Foundation offers to donors of all types to help them achieve their charitable giving objectives. We believe our new branding and logo will appeal not only to our existing donor base, but also to younger philanthropists who represent the next generation of donors. The Community Foundation has established itself as a permanent, sustainable source of philanthropic capital that will support our community’s quality of life for generations to come.
The Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville also unveiled a new four-year Strategic Plan outlining bold objectives for future growth and expansion of programs and services. The new mission of the Community Foundation is:
Improving the quality of life in our community through philanthropy
The Community Foundation currently manages $13 million in charitable assets in over 190 funds. These funds, including those administered by the board of the Community Foundation, make grants to charities that help improve the quality of life for everyone living in our community. The Community Foundation takes a holistic view of the community and considers all categories of charitable endeavors to be vital to that quality of life – from education, environment, basic needs, health and wellness, to lifestyle and emergency relief. The Community Foundation works with donors to help them achieve the maximum positive impact in the areas for which they are passionate.
